This is what Jack was singing in the backseat yesterday afternoon. I knew what it was because he had sung other more intelligible parts of the song before he sang this part. I thought it was hilarious though. I was singing the song along with him and then we got to this part. I was like, "The tune's the same, but he is not singing the same thing I am." So, I stopped and asked him to sing it again. And this is what he said over and over, "row the goss from chinny in a wok." Do you know what song it is? Think about it.......

Crickets in the Head

Jack wanted me to take his temperature the other day because he wanted to have a fever so he could take some grape tylenol. I checked his head with our temporal lobe thermometer, which makes little chirping noises. At the doctor's office they say, "Let's listen to those crickets in your head." So, I always say, "Let's check your crickets."

His temperature was normal, so I said he was fine. Later, in a final attempt to get some tylenol, he came back up to me and said, "Mom, I think the crickets are biting my head."

"She's Just Being Riley!"

Setting: I was about to eat some food I'd just heated up and Riley walks towards me with her mouth open. No words, just an open mouth.
Me: Riley, it's very hot.
(I feed her a small piece that I've blown off.)
Riley: I want more "very hot."

Last night at supper:
Jack: I want some tea.
Riley: I want some tea party.

Oh, and one for Jack:
Last night I had a cupcake that was actually for the kids, but I split it into thirds so I could eat some. I gave Jack his piece of the cupcake and he responded, "Thanks Mom. That is so nice for you to share."

My Little Parrot

The other day I was driving to work. The kids were with me and we we're driving down the main street of the Water's which has a lot of speed bumps. I guess the speed bumps made it seem like I was driving a little crazy. I don't know, but all of the sudden from the back seat Jack pipes up, "I get so nervous about you Mom."

I think he's heard me say stuff like, "Don't do that, you're making me nervous." There have been many more times that he has told someone that they made him nervous. Especially Riley, he tells her that all the time. He is such a little repeater.

We were on a walk recently and this dog was trying to come after us and Jack said, "That dog is very fond of us." When he gets in a bad mood about something he'll tell me things like, "I am so frustrated." or "I am so mad." He also likes to tell Riley "No no, Riley, no ma'am." I realize he gets all these sayings from me, so it's funny to hear him repeat them. He also likes to use the word "yesterday" and the phrase "next week." I'm not sure he really knows what they mean, but he likes to say them.

One of his original sayings, though, is "Repeat, Repeat!" He kinda got this from Toy Story I think, but he uses it to let us know when Riley's doing something she shouldn't be. It really is quite funny. He always busts her by yelling "Repeat, Repeat!" Usually if we hear the phrase, Riley's playing on the stairs because that's something he knows for sure that she's not allowed to do.

Another thing about Jack is that he does not use contractions very much. It's always "do not," "will not," "I am," etc. You get the picture. Anyways, this post was somewhat for humor, but mostly for recording purposes so I can say that I've "written it down." I know I'll laugh everytime I read these sayings of his. He just cracks me up so much.

Zelda Rare IV

In the car the other day on our way back from Nashville:

Jack: Look! It's a fire engine truck thingy!

Me: Where? Where?

Jack (while pointing to a pick up truck that has a couple of ladders on it): Over there! The fire engine truck is over there!

Me: Well, it does have a ladder......

Jack: Cause it's a fire engine truck. Come on Mom!

Zelda Rare III

In the car on the way home from Ming's Garden the other day, Jack overheard my mom talking about how he got rice all over his clothes. This is the conversation that followed:

Jack: Rice makes me happy.........Chicken makes me MEAN!

Hee-Hee: Ha, ha, how sweet. He said "Rice makes me happy."

Jack: No! Rice not make you happy. Rice makes ME happy.

Hee-Hee: Oh, okay, I'm sorry. Rice makes you happy.

Jack: And somedays, chicken makes me mean!

He must have eaten a little too much chicken! There was more to the conversation, but that's all I can remember. Just made me laugh.

Zelda Rare II

For the past 3 weeks, Jack has been going around saying "Buzz Lightyear, Talkin' Man. Come in, Talkin' Man. Can you hear me? To Infinity......And Beyond."
He also likes to repeat "And Be......and be.......and be....." many times before getting to "and beyond!"

I've seen Toy Story (many, many times now, thank you Jack) and I was pretty sure they never said anything about this "Talking Man." So, I've been trying to figure it out. Where has he heard this from and why has he decided that Buzz Lightyear is one. Then yesterday, as we were watching our daily showing of Toy Story, I was just kind of listening when I heard this and it finally dawned on me: "This is Buzz Lightyear here calling to STAR COMMAND. Come in, STAR COMMAND. Can you hear me?"

Duh! I feel so dumb! That should definitely be on one of the cards in the game Mad Gab.

Jack had woken up from his nap and was in the bedroom calling for me. So, I went in there and laid down next to him. He was just laying there looking at me when all of the sudden...

Jack: I forget.

Me: What did you forget?

Jack: To give you a kiss.
