Music To My Ears

This is a lovely song that Jack made up recently:

I see the moon,
And the moon makes me happy,
And the moon is on the trees,
And the moon is above the trees;

And the moon is on the trees,
And the moon is above the trees;

And the moon is on the CD movie player,
And the moon is on Mama,
And the moon is on Riley,
And the moon is on Hee-Hee;

And the moon is on Jack,
And the moon is on the trees.

Zelda Rare II

For the past 3 weeks, Jack has been going around saying "Buzz Lightyear, Talkin' Man. Come in, Talkin' Man. Can you hear me? To Infinity......And Beyond."
He also likes to repeat "And Be......and be.......and be....." many times before getting to "and beyond!"

I've seen Toy Story (many, many times now, thank you Jack) and I was pretty sure they never said anything about this "Talking Man." So, I've been trying to figure it out. Where has he heard this from and why has he decided that Buzz Lightyear is one. Then yesterday, as we were watching our daily showing of Toy Story, I was just kind of listening when I heard this and it finally dawned on me: "This is Buzz Lightyear here calling to STAR COMMAND. Come in, STAR COMMAND. Can you hear me?"

Duh! I feel so dumb! That should definitely be on one of the cards in the game Mad Gab.

Zelda Rare

Jack had woken up from his nap and was in the bedroom calling for me. So, I went in there and laid down next to him. He was just laying there looking at me when all of the sudden...

Jack: I forget.

Me: What did you forget?

Jack: To give you a kiss.

Too sweet!

***UPDATE***

An update on the drama that ensued in front of our house yesterday:

I called my mom while it was going on. Well, she ended up making a call to someone who then made a call to someone who ended up calling the cops. Things got kind of confused down the line and the cops thought that someone had heard gunshots at The Waters (which is a cool little neighborhood town-like place if you're not from around here). So, the police were riding around that neighborhood trying to figure out where the gunshots had been fired, probably causing a small-scale panic to those who were around at the time. Anyways, they figured out that they were in the wrong place.

Eventually, I was looking out the window and saw three cop cars pull up to the house. So, I went out and told them what had happened and they collected a bunch of shell casings from the ground. I think they were kind of disappointed that they didn't catch the guys doing it and they told me to call them right away if that same car ever showed up again. So, that was my drama for the day, yesterday.

Today, on the other hand, held a whole new drama of it's own. Riley pooped in the tub.......again.....and AFTER I had bathed both of the kids. So, I had to take both of them out, take all the toys out, clean the tub, refill it, put the kids back in, and bathe them again. My mom and I have both gotten so used to this happening, I've gotten the routine down pretty well. The only step left is the dreaded task of cleaning all the bath toys, again. The reason I was having to give them a bath in the middle of the day was because of this:

Thugs in the Woods

I was just getting ready to write a post like 30 minutes ago, when all of the sudden I heard this loud bang. We live out in the country, where our closest neighbor is at least 70 yards away. Plus the kids were both asleep. With this in mind I started to panic thinking, "What in the world could that possibly have been?" So, I rushed downstairs to check on the kids and heard the noise again, this time one right after the other and automatically realized what the sound was. It was definitely gunfire and way too close for comfort. Right then I went all 007 (or really just "mommy in panic trying to protect her babies"), deadbolting the door and grabbing my cell phone and pepper spray. I hunched down below the windows and sat in the kitchen not knowing what to do.

I decided to check it out so I peeked out of the blinds from the living room and saw three thug looking dudes with guns. Not BB guns. Not I'm-just-practicing-my-aim hunting guns. But hand guns. Automatically in my mind this means criminals although I guess you can use hand guns for other things, this whole scenario looked super shady. Before I write more let me note that they were in front of these abandoned trailers that are like 50 ft. from our house, kinda diagonally in front of our house. Actually I do have a picture of the site.... kind of. Really the subject of these pictures was a fox that we saw the other day over by the trailer. It was very cute and, well here it is.

Back to the thugs. I staked it out for a while, a long while. I saw them taking some barrels out of their car and I guess that's what they were shooting at, but who knows why. And I definitely don't know why they were doing this so close to my house and my babies. They just better be glad I'm not Aunt Madea. Sometimes I do wish I could be more like her though....only at certain times when the dirty deeds of my soon to be ex pop into my head. Anyways, that was my excitement for the day. I think I'll go check it out later and make sure they weren't shooting at something other than a barrel. I really do let my imagination run wild sometimes. Update on the "shootings" to come.
